Dagger was born October 29th 2014, he's a miniature ten-pound dachshund. He is a very special dog to us because when we got him at eight weeks old, we realized he came from a bad place. He was not socialized with dogs or people, he had no siblings and two weeks before we went to pick him up, he was separated from his mom and left alone in a crate. Someone would go feed the dogs once a day and that's it so when he came to us, he became so attached to me and my husband. He was, and still is, afraid of strangers, he ends up liking someone if he sees them a lot, like our close families, but even then, he always has a little fear with others.
But, besides this aspect of him, he is the most amazing dog I could ask for. He's our first dog, and he is every thing I could of asked in a dog. He loves to cuddle, but also has his independent moments and respects our space if we tell him to go in his bed. He loves to play and is very smart, he learns very fast. He knows how to sit, lay down, give each paw, roll, turn on one side and the other and plays dead when we say 'pow'. At 4 months old, it took him only 10 minutes to learn how to give the paw! He has his favorite games and toys, like his frisbee and his small orange ball. He loves his big blue ball, he plays soccer with his nose and he has a kiddy pool for the summer and loves it. He also loves to play in the leaves in Fall and in the snow in Winter.
No matter how hard it gets with him sometimes, since he wasn't socialized so we had to show him everything, and to show him not to be scared of everything he sees, but also because he's a teenager in dog years, he can be stubborn at times and wants to be the boss. In the end, no matter how much time we needed to teach him how to be a good dog, or the frustrations, it's all worth it because even when you have a really bad day, your dog is always happy to see you and knows when you're not feeling well, anyways Dagger knows and always tries to cheer me up by being silly when I'm not feeling well.
