When Jessie was born her back legs were deformed. Our veterinarian suggested we put her to sleep as he didn't think she would never walk. We took her home and started exercising her legs, holding her up to stand using a scarf under her tummy. When she was four weeks old she would scoot about the house dragging her legs behind her. She would try so hard to stand but just kept falling over. We did not give up though, and continued with her strengthening exercises.
When she was about ten weeks old she was sat watching her brothers and sister running about the house, she looked so sad. But then she suddenly stood up, gave a little yap and off she took, it was like a little miracle. She ran, stumbled and fell but got back up and ran again and continued to do this for a good few minutes before collapsing in a very satisfied heap. All her brothers and sister ran over and made a huge fuss of her, it was a beautiful sight. She continued to gain strength and although she still stumbles from time to time she never gives up.
