Charlie was a rescue from an extremely abusive home. I took her in when she was four weeks old. Already super malnourished and sporting multiple infected cuts and a broken rib, it was a team effort of my care and her desire to live that pulled her through.
Now she is in training to be a service dog, even owning her own "in training" vest. She recently repaid a debt to me. In exchange for saving her life when she was a puppy, she saved mine when she got between me and a man who had been sexually assaulting me.
My little princess spends her days parading around, showing off her many toys to anyone who will listen. Her favorite spot to sleep is curled against my side, her paws tucked against me. And while she is still hyper active and excitable, she is one of the most responsible dogs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and the honor of working beside.
