I loved Oscar as soon as I saw his puppy picture on the Humane Society website. Who wouldn't fall for that masked face, those floppy ears, and that adorable head tilt? But before meeting Oscar, I met his littermates. One looked like a Pomeranian, two looked like liver-spotted basset hounds, and one looked like a lab. Oscar was special, because only he looked like a beagle.
When Oscar was brought into the room with me, the first thing he did was pounce after my tennis ball, and then bounce into my lap. I knew right then that he was the pup for us! He came home that weekend, on the Sunday of the Oscars awards, hence his name.
Oscar has grown into a happy and playful dog who loves to take walks, run around the park, go jogging, swim in the lake, chase balls on the tennis court, wrestle with our other dog, hang out with you, and at the end of the day, cuddle up with you on the couch or in bed. When you rub his belly, he talks to you - marvelous little sighs and moans and groans.
We love our little beagle boy! He isn't actually so little anymore, more like 45 pounds of solid dog, big feet, and big heart. He is shy around strangers at first, but it's not long before he warms up and works his particular charm on you, and soon you'll fall a little in love, too.
