I am Mitzi R. Hunter, yes, my name does suit me to a tee. I was told that I was an Italian Greyhound Terrier mix but I like to defy expectations.
My mother found me amidst her grief at having to relinquish George the Biter. (My mother hates giving up and giving in on anything let alone her beloved rescue dog.) After that experience, she decided on a road of no commitment by just fostering dogs from the Milo Foundation in San Rafael, California. Each Sunday night she would arrive home with an object of her affection and showered that creature with bones, baths and a new bandana. Said subject would be returned on Wednesday ready to meet and greet prospective families. (Her adoption numbers were way up there.)
She thought her heart was full with just "helping out" until she met my brothers and I. The six of us were scooped up from some unfortunate circumstance and we were all in a pen competing for whatever was offered. When my Mom walked by, I knew I had to jump the highest and boy, I kept jumping straight up. This was my chance! Jump! Jump! Jump! It worked. She picked me up and then I began my campaign to be her dog.
I am now secure in my position as top dog/favorite daughter in the household. I received an A++ in the Small Dog 1 Class at the Marin Humane Society. My repertoire includes, sit, bow, stay, speak, jump and roll over. My public relations skills are renowned in my neighborhood unless small children get too irritating. I have a budding therapy dog practice and my client base is building as I do house calls and overnights.
My spare moments are filled with napping in the sun, presenting bones, playing ball and spending quality time with my comfort puppy who does not mind getting an occasional hump or two.
It is my purpose and passion in life to spread joy and to remind others to take a moment to go ground level with the little dogs. I am grateful for my life.
