I rescued Chandler almost two years ago as I was driving home. He was smelling a bush by the side of the road all by himself. I immediately pulled over and beckoned Chandler to come to me. He ran to me, licked my face, and then jumped in my car. He did not have a collar or a identification tag but he did have a microchip! After many unsuccessful attempts to contact his family, I adopted him.
Chandler has overcome many things in the short two years that I have known him. He was so overweight that standing up caused him to become short of breath and had giant cherry eyes that blocked half of his vision. Through exercise and surgery for his eyes, he has never been healthier. He now walks about three to four miles a day and loves to go on long hikes and play on the beach. He is the most active bulldog I know!
He also suffered from many behavioral issues including: biting ankles, separation anxiety, fear of other dogs, humping, excessive licking of himself and people, chasing reflections and shadows, and lack of confidence resulting in aggressive behaviors. With the help of a professional, Chandler can sit, stay, lie down, come, leave it, park it, and play without biting my ankles. Since Chandler is deaf, he has learned hand signals for all of these commands. Chandler's favorite things include chewing his bone, going on walks, sunbathing, car rides, sleeping, and following me wherever I go. He is still unsure of other dogs and chases the occasional shadow, but he is living a much happier and healthier life!
