This is a photo of our rescued dog Jazzie. We think she is a Chihuahua / Italian Greyhound mix or, as they are called, a Chi-hound! She is seven or eight years old and we live in Rhode Island.
So many things make her special. She plays, fetches, is absolutely beautiful to watch as she races around the yard and then loves nothing more than a warm snuggle as she curls into a little ball and falls asleep (she's on my lap snoozing right now). But what makes her truly amazing is her calm temperment and resilience. We don't know her full story, but we do know that she was brought to a chihuahua rescue center in Arkansas, was trucked to New York and then spent two weeks with a foster family in Connecticut before we spotted her on adopt-a-pet.com and fell in love.
When we were driving the two hours it took to bring her home from Connecticut, she sat on my lap and variously looked out the window and curled up and snoozed. It was as if we'd had her since she was a puppy. What a great, well-adjusted doggie! Let me just say how grateful we are to the thousands of volunteers who give their time and their hearts to rescue and care for these waifs. Our pretty snazzy razz-a-ma-tazzie Jazzie is a true gift to our family.
By the way, the one picture with Pepper is one of our cats when she was two or three and while he is probably younger than she is (he's about one and a half in that photo), he was already almost twice her size!
