What makes Nikita special? She's a rescue from New York City. She was purchased at a pet store for $2500 (a fool and their money....) and turned in to a euthanasia shelter two days later. The owners said she was too wild. She was 7 or 8 weeks old!!!! She was passed between a few shelters then made her way to the Husky House rescue in Matawan, NJ. Coincidentally, my brother is a volunteer there. I had just recently had a fence installed in my yard. My brother fostered her for several weeks and kept sending me pictures of her. He wore me down and I picked her up in January of 2016. She's about two years old now, but we're not sure her exact age.
The other reason is that she is very energetic. Since getting her I've lost and kept off 20 pounds from all the walking we do. It's approximately 120 miles per month, 5 days a week. Two days a week she goes to doggy day-care to play with her friends. She's very sweet around people and loves to play with other dogs.
As an aside, she hated wearing that Christmas hat! She got so sad and glum when I put it on her. You'd have thought it was the end of the world. It was on her less than 5 minutes.
