It started as a typical trip to the Southold Animal Shelter to drop off some donations. I walked around to see which dogs were for adoption, but informed the volunteers that I was just saying “hi” and dropping off some food and paper towels. “We have a dog that needs a foster home,” they said. Shortly after, I picked up Piper to foster her for “just the summer” and… well, you know the rest.
Piper is spunky and sweet and melds right in with her adopted brothers and sister (two chihuahuas and two tuxedo cats). She is always up for an adventure around the neighborhood or the beaches of Long Island, as the wild is where she used to live before coming into our home. She enjoys going to the dog park, having play dates with my friends' dogs, and bird watching from the window. She is the fastest dog at the park and has only been outrun by a greyhound that was just rescued from the race track.
She often makes visits back to the shelter that saved her to drop off supplies and say hello. You can follow along on the adventures of Piper and her siblings on her Instagram PiperAndTheZoo.
