Oscar was a birthday gift to me in 2011. He was adopted from a local shelter and was the only one who had been there longer than a week. I'm still unsure how anyone couldn't immediately love him. He was kept for the beginning part of my birthday by a family friend who was going to bring him to my party. While at their house, the first thing he did was jump into the bathtub and bark until someone they turned on the water. They gave him the nickname "Weenie." To keep his name along those lines, I decided on Oscar.
He quickly lived up to his name. He knows that when he does something that he isn't supposed to (like getting into the trash can), his ears go back when you say "Oscar Mayer."
Other than getting into the trash can, Oscar is the most well-behaved dog. He likes to cuddle and somehow knows when you need kisses. He is protective but not in an aggressive way. He stays with those who are sick or those who need help, and never leaves their side. When I got my wisdom teeth taken out, he refused to eat his dinner unless his bowl was put right next to my bed because he felt like he wasn't protecting me enough. We jokingly call him a dad because of this.
He can sit, lay down, roll over and dance on his hind legs. Oscar enjoys going to the dog park and playing with the other dogs, although most of the time he is the shortest one. He is always the fastest, most agile of all the dogs because of his short legs, but don't let his size fool you. He is pure muscle and takes tug-of-war very seriously.
He is by far the most well-behaved dog ever, and I am lucky to call him my own.
