Mandy came to us as a rescue dog puppy (mixed breed) from Puerto Rico three years ago. We made her "famous" in her own video with our own original song!
We had a Golden Retriever for fourteen years, but she passed about sixteen years ago. My wife did not want to get a dog again, but when I was approaching my 60th birthday, three years ago, that is what I wanted, and she relented. Happy Birthday to me!
I first saw Mandy on the Petfinder website, from which I would get alerts. She was a rescue dog from Puerto Rico, where she was found snagged with a wire wrapped around her leg. People there saved her and sent her to a group in southeastern Massachusetts called Caribbean Connection, I believe, only 30 minutes from where I live.
When I first saw her, I forwarded the puppy picture of her sitting, which you have, to my wife saying, "can I come and live with you?" Soon thereafter, the proprietor of the website brought her down and we fell in love with her, and she with us. She is extremely devoted to us, my wife, older son, and me (but she really is my dog and follows me everywhere).
I took her to puppy training school when she was little where she learned sit, down, stay, wait, and heal (not so much). She's also learned to shake hands, high-five, and turn around. She is very smart, runs like the wind, and is a very protective home dog - a good watch dog. She can't stand it when I leave the house, and she waits by the window for me for hours to come home. She enjoys chasing squirrels away from the bird feeders. She loves to tease us with her toys, bringing them just close enough for us to try to get them, then she scoots away.
In the early morning she loves to jump up on my lap and lay on the recliner with me, which can be challenging since she is 45 pounds and has a very long, solid muscled, body. That is likely because I take her for two two-mile walks a day if the weather allows.
