Hi, my name is Ruby, and I am the newest member of a rather large and diverse pet family.
My story started when a friend of Mom's shared a picture of a dog that was up for adoption at Huntsville Animal Services. Mom went to get her. When she arrived the people told her that the dog had many medical conditions that needed advanced treatment. Mom did not feel confident in doing those procedures. So while she was there, she looked in the other kennels. I was in the first one, and was perfect for her. I'm a senior, female and small. So she adopted me.
I was such a good girl on the ride home. Then I met my new brothers and sisters. They are used to Mom bringing home rescues, so they greeted me and went on their way.
Then I went in the house and found the food and water dishes. Mom thinks none of us should ever worry about being hungry, so the dishes are always full. There are plenty of dog beds in most of the rooms. Then I discovered the parakeets and guinea pig. Something smaller than me!!! It was exciting.
We have a big fenced in yard, so there is plenty of things to check out. This is going to be a great place to spend my golden years.
(The other happy news is some of Mom's friends are fostering the other dog. They are experienced in giving fluids and the other procedures. Apparently the other pup is responding well. )
