I have a nine-year-old Sable colored German Shepherd named Zidan. He's a retired police attack dog from Philadelphia PD. He is my fiance's dog. He comes from Czechoslovakia, that’s where he was bred and bordn. Zidan understands and has been trained in English and German.
The Philadelphia Police Department had to retire Zidan because he was becoming too over the top, wild or aggressive. He was always a little too excited, out of control. That's when my fiancé, a certified dog trainer, came across Zidan at his dog training kennel he worked at when he got certified. He wanted a protection dog. So he took on the challenge and took Zidan in. He re-trained Zidan, he got him to dial down a lot of his out-of-control behaviors.
Now Zidan spends his days of retirement digging holes, sleeping on his bed with a warm wool blanket, urinating on mommy's tomato plants, and tearing up his plush dog toys. He likes to tear the stuffing out of them. He loves to go on walks around our country neighborhood, he loves dog bones and dog treats. He gets his ears cleaned and terrorized by our house cat Patti. He especially loves the cold winter months! He runs away sometimes just to play in the snow (when we lived in Vermont).
We live in Oklahoma now. He doesn't like gun shots. The only time he barks is when a gun goes off in the country during hunting season. Now Zidan is a well trained, well behaved dog. We love him dearly.
