Barkley
is a lovable companion who, though getting older, still acts as
energetic and excitable as a puppy. He is a great hunter and has brought
us numerous presents (much to our horror) and loves walks. We picked him
up at the Humane Society, where they had found him roaming the streets.
When we first got him, his fur was falling out in clumps, he was skinny,
there were patches of fur missing on his ears due to flea bites, and he
would grab sticks off the ground and eat them.
Now he has us trained to the point where he won't eat his dinner unless
we give him something special in it (like coconut oil or broth, etc). He
sits by me and licks my tears when I'm sad and encourages me to go
outside when I'm being lazy. When I visited during a break from college,
he never left my side. I think maybe he missed me as much as I missed
him while I was away! I don't know what I would do without my Barkley.
