I
have practically grown up with Australian Cattle Dogs since I was a
teenager and haven't been away from one since. I have grown fond of the breed
and their ability to outsmart you at times.
The reason mine is so special is because I was not looking for a new dog
since I had a small Chihuahua mix of my own. Ice has grown up with my Chi-mix
Stormie from birth and I have raised her with the help of Ice's breeder (my
girlfriend) just as I raised Stormie, from birth as well. I simply fell in
love with her as a young pup and we haven't been separated since then.
Ice and Stormie get along very well although Stormie is not always fond of
the immense attention she gets from Ice.
The other reason Ice is special to me is because she is slightly untrained
and intensely goofy, I have to smile around her! The reason she is slightly
untrained is because about a week after I took her home, my girlfriend's twin
brother was in a horrible accident and he didn't make it. It was during this
time that it should hav been crucial to train Ice, but I was not able to as I
was tending to family and friends in this tragedy.
The Australian Cattle Dog breed has been a huge help to me, because I had
something to focus on during a dark time in my life. Ice is well on her way
to becoming a champion like her mother as well as her father who just took a
Grand Championship title.
She and Stormie are not just dogs to me, they are my life. There is not a day
where I can't wait to walk them as they both enjoy our walks together, it's
our focus time.
