I have owned huskies before but unfortunately the first two were stolen. The first one was taken Thanksgiving Day and it took me eight years of hoping he was found and returned before i could bear to look for another husky. The second husky I had raised from a puppy and had for five years before she, too, was stolen.
Last year after moving, I felt ready for another husky, ready to try again. My husband, kids and I went to a pet adoption day to look. I had no hopes that a husky would be there. As we walked by a white dog curled up hiding it face and refusing to look at anyone, I told my husband I was ready to go.
My husband, wanting to cheer me up and help out the dogs, stopped to buy me an "I love huskies" magnet. And that's when it happened. As my husband was trying to get me to pick one, I looked up at all the dogs one last time. The first thing I saw was that white dog staring straight at me with the most amazing blue eyes. She came home with me that day and has been my beautiful Mona Lisa ever since.
Mona Lisa loves tennis balls and drives us crazy with her plastic bottle collection, too. I am sure she has about 30 hidden under the couch as I write this. But I honestly wouldn't change a thing. Her only bad habit is going after bees, which is why I have to stop writing and go save her now. Silly girl!
