When our beloved family dog Brandy died there was a very large hole in our hearts to fill. Knowing we would adopt another adult dog, we decided to look into Greyhound adoption.
By the end of September, Frankie came into our lives through a wonderful organization, Needle-Nose Greyhound Adoption. Frankie was three when he arrived on September 29th and turned four on October 17th in 2009. He is a 76-pound brindle and white male greyhound. He came from a Daytona, Florida racetrack so he had never had a winter ... et alone a Canadian winter ... when he arrived, - what a surprise that was for him!
Frankie has been a wonderful addition to our family. He has never bothered our twocats, has gotten along with every dog he meets, loves strangers, and has not barked once...not even when someone comes to the door. He is very polite and stands quietly for pets and hugs, only to step a little closer to you if you stop.
He is quite the couch potato, and will sleep for hours after a meal or romp around our large fenced in yard. He loves the dog park also where he gets to meet all sorts of dogs and show them that although he is retired...he's still faster than any other dog there!
We are so glad we adopted one of these wonderful dogs! We love our big boy, and hope to spend many years with him in our lives.
