This
is our oldest Retired Racing Greyhound, Master. He will turn ten on
December 15th. He was a very good racer, but I believe an injury ended his
career prematurely.
We have had him for about four years, as he came to us as a multiple 'bounce'
meaning he lost his previous homes for a variety of reasons. I'm sure they
were through no fault of his own, as Master has always been a perfect gentleman.
When he first came to us as a foster he was what I've described as 'somber'.
I'm sure the reason was that he was bounced around from home to home, because
as he remained with us longer and he realized he was not going anywhere his
true personality shone through. After about half a year (we had officially
adopted him during this time), he started to become the happy and loving
Greyhound he is now.
About three years ago he became a Pet Therapy Dog, and he comes to the
Children's Hospital with me. The children love him and Master just stands
there and takes it all in, he is such a gentle soul. Recently he went to his
Halloween visit in his costume, a Greyhound Bus!
Master is my heart dog, and we hope that he will still be with us for a long
time. His five younger Greyhound siblings rely on his steady, but gentle paw
in the house.
