Dyna
may look like a puppy, but she is is almost three years old (she will be on
March 1, 2013!). Dyna is a maniac. She loves to run and play. Her favorite
toy is her tennis ball, or her little stuffed bear "Sophie."
Dyna is just like any other hyper little dog. She's a goofball. She runs,
jumps, loves food, even falls on her head sometimes. The thing that makes
Dyna special though, is that she saved my life.
Before Dyna, I was deeply depressed. I was exhausted with life and thought
that I couldn't keep on. In 2009, I lost my best friend, Chewy. He was a
little dachshund mix that I loved dearly. He was a raging ball of fur that
was determined to protect me from anything, whether I could see it or not.
Then he went to the Rainbow Bridge and I was left entirely alone, until 2010
when my mom handed me a big blue towel and told me it was for me. Little
Dyna, just six weeks old, was bundled up in it. It broke my heart. I felt like
a bad omen for dogs. I thought that, if I accepted her, she would die too. I
couldn't help but crying as I held this little defenseless puppy. Then she
turned and looked up at me with eyes that I recognized all too easily. She
had eyes just like Chewy's. They were so full of spark and I knew that I
needed to keep her.
Now, she's nearly three years old. She loves people, has a slight attitude
issue sometimes, and boy does she love food! She just weighed in at a little
under seven pounds a few weeks ago and she's completely perfect. She makes me
think that I'm not such a bad omen for dogs, and that maybe losing Chewy had
to happen so that I could save her and she could save me.
