My
baby boy has been living with me all three years of his life, from
birth. We have his parents and a sister as well. He's special. I'd
been preparing to take care of the litter of puppies, I wanted to make
sure they came into the world safely. But Missy, Porkawhale's mom, got
the jump on me and gave birth to them in the middle of the night. My
mom and I woke up to my sister's phone alarm going off and heard
squeaking in between the beeps.
Missy had the puppies against the door, so we yelled for my sister to
wake up. I cracked the door open as much as I could, and Porkchop was
the last born. He wasn't moving, so I had to coach my sister through
the door how to save him, since I'd been researching nonstop since
finding out Missy was pregnant. He lived. As the last born of eight, he
was actually the largest boy.
At some point, genetics or an accident of some kind, caused his bottom
jaw to stop developing. He has a major overbite. People would say he
needed to be put down, that he'd be in lots of pain as he grew up.
That his condition made him 'retarded'. But I didn't give in. I
softened food when I could, until he figured out how to chew. It adds
onto his adorable charm, especially when he 'smiles'. He is always
happy and always playing. The overbite doesn't affect him at all.
Not only did he steal my heart, but his brother, JJ did as well. And
when he passed, I was broken. Porkchop was there for me, cuddling up
with me, trying to make me feel better. He even took on some of his
brother's personality traits. His silly attitude like he's the king.
Porkchop is my world; my little four-legged fur baby.
