Annie
Belle was a rescue from a man that had abandoned her to a church and
later given to a high-kill shelter, where she was rescued by a DFW
(Dallas/Forth Worth) Rescue Me volunteer. She didn't have any weight to her
bones, but despite that, she was a fighter. She came to us February 16, 2014,
two days after Valentines.
It was by chance we ended up with her, as our family had recently lost Casey,
our wonderful Sheltie to Kidney disease. This left our other Sheltie, Bailey,
depressed. And Annie was there to help her through.
It wasn't long before we noticed Annie's fear to men and to dogs. It was easy
to see that her fear was because of her abusive past, but no matter what, her
future is with us. Annie was a survivor before, but now, she can finally live.
We don't want Annie to have to live in fear, even while she's a wonderful and
loving pet at home. We know not everybody sees the same dog we love, and
hopefully, one day, they will. We are working with her every day. Time heals
what the past created, and we're in for the long haul because lil' orphan
Annie has finally found her home.
