Bertie
(originally Granddad Bertie), was a rescue who came to live with us
nearly a year ago. He's getting on in his years, but he loves all the
attention you can throw at him.
He catches like a boss, especially if you're throwing something tasty to eat.
He loves taking long walks down our local park, although he's not a fan of
the lake and makes sure to steer clear unless he wants a drink.
On one walk, he went down a boat launching ramp and got a little too curious
and fell off the edge and went for a swim, only he can't swim. My dad ran
over to lift him out, and though our hearts were in our throats, Bertie shook
it off and carried on his merry way alongside out other three dogs.
When Bertie barks, he doesn't know when to stop, and he's not sure how to
play with our other dogs, but he's been trying to learn, and despite his age,
zip around the garden as fast as our two year old Basset.
Bertie is such a loyal gentleman, and he loves to keep you company,
especially if you've got biscuits.
Fair warning though, if you start stroking him, he'll never let you stop.
Seriously, he'll nudge you till you continue stroking him. Both cute and
annoying. :D Gotta love him!
