My
husband Brandon and I originally wanted to adopt a corgi. When we moved to
our new job, we looked online and found a farm near our town and that owner
was selling corgi pups. The lady let us know that she was all out of red and
white ones so we cautiously accepted a tricolor. We got pictures of him after
he was born and we were worried that he wasn't what we were looking for. But
we decided to drive up to the farm and see for ourselves. When we walked into
the room, Atlas ran up towards the playpen wall and started nomming on the
bars. We immediately fell in love and signed the paperwork that very day.
After joining out family, we slowly discovered all of the little things that
makes Atlas special. My husband and I take Atlas everywhere we go and he
never fusses or fights us over it. In fact, he absolutely loves to go for car
rides. He's our co-pilot and he makes traveling fun! Atlas is also super
friendly. He wants to be everyone's best friend and he enjoys meeting new
people and making them smile. He's even friendly with our two cats, despite
the cats bullying him from time to time. Atlas always goes with us to grab a
bite to eat and more often than not, we leave with extra goodies provided by
the employees who can't resist his charm.
Atlas is a very talkative boy. He likes to sit in between Brandon and I when
we're conversing and he'll look back and forth between the two of us, his
attention focused on whomever's talking at the time. It's like he's genuinely
interested in what we're talking about and wants to be part of the
conversation. During one on one conversations between Atlas and I, he'll tilt
his head and answer me with barks, snorts, and sometimes a twirl.
Atlas also enjoys taking part in his breed's instincts! Often times I've
caught Atlas trying to herd our cats into a corner of the room. He's also
been known to sort out certain pieces in his food dish! Atlas will go to his
food bowl, pick up a small mouthful of food and bring it away from his bowl.
He leaves the brown pieces on the carpet and continues to do this routine
until there are no more brown pieces in his bowl. Atlas then eats the green
and red pieces from his food dish and only then will he go back and eat the brown pieces.
A short video of Atlas.
We consider him the Dog of the Day every day here.
