What makes my dog special? Well, he is a Doberman Pinscher of course.
Meet Dunn the Doberman! He is a special dog in more ways than one, and
too many to list. We got Dunn at one month old. He came from a litter of
15 puppies, and 13 survived. The momma dog was kicking them off and they
were eating solid food already. The lady we received him from wasn't
very good at the breeding/puppy raising thing.
Today he is healthy and strong. Dunn only gets the best dog food. He
also gets bananas, carrots, apples, yogurt, and little bits of bacon.
Dunn is well socialized and loves everyone. He makes for a great guard
dog, though. I didn't have to train him, it's all his natural instinct.
My husband and I decided to get a dog as a wedding gift to one another.
Shortly after, we discovered that Dunn had a knack for sensing my
emotions. He could tell when my social anxiety would get bad enough to
where I would not go to the grocery store to get anything I need alone.
So we have teamed up with a trainer to help us train and guide us to
training Dunn to be an ESA. He has learned a very "comforting" command
which is why we used "comfort" as the cue, generally he picks up on my
anxiety, but there are times he might need some extra help and that is
where the command comes to play. He will wrap his body into a U shape
around my legs and look up at me with his beautiful brown eyes and will
not look away.
Dunn is a very smart and silly dog. We jokingly call him the Jester of
the dog world, but as Dunn grows up I find it to be true. He won't sit
to scratch his ear or arm pit; instead he will stand on three legs and
scratch. He is very smart and talented. He knows many tricks and
commands. For a small example: sit, down, stay, come, wait (release),
high five, low five, shake paw(s), balance treat/toy on nose, roll over,
bang, heel, and comfort just to name a few.
Recently I suffered from an Ectopic Pregnancy, and had to have surgery,
as we lost the baby and that fallopian tube was ruptured so it was
removed. My husband and I hadn't even known I was pregnant. So to find
out and lose your first child in one day was devastating to say the
least. When we got home from the hospital Dunn knew something was not
the same with mommy and daddy. He would lay at mommy's feet and softly
cry while daddy was away at work. Dunn would also keep a very watchful
eye on me and still has weeks later after surger
He truly is an angel, a jester and the class clown. Since his ears
aren't cropped, they tend to look batwing-like. This dog is my world. I
love him with all my heart. But most of all he is my furry baby boy who
has left enormous paw prints in our hearts and we wouldn't change him or
trade him for the world. I love you Bubba Dunn!!
