Bailey is a German shepherd mix and a very lucky dog. My family came across him two years ago when he and his brother came to our house and stayed there for a few days. We all became really attached to the skinny, dirty, and fun-loving dogs. We named them Bailey and Dakota (or Kota). Eventually, we all came to realize that we couldn't keep these dogs. My grandparents put them in the back of the Jeep and took them to a local shelter. Our shelter does a neighborhood check when an animal comes in to make sure it wasn't dropped off by mistake.
It turns out that Bailey and Dakota were owned by a man that lived down the road from us. A few months went by before Bailey came back, however; this time he was alone. He became a more frequent visitor and over time we all got really attached to him. My dad decided to talk to the man that owned him. The talk went really well and the man agreed to let us have Bailey. However, Dakota was still over at the man's house. It turned out Dakota had been out in a field and got his leg cut off by a combine. He healed just fine but was nervous to go anywhere away from his home.
Dakota has come to our house a few times since then and we are always greeted by a lick! Bailey will still go over to visit his brother during the day when we are at work and school and then come home to eat and sleep with us. We enjoy having him and he as been amazing addition to our family. Bailey is an amazing boy and we love his happy-go-lucky attitude!
