Lizzy was found in a dumpster near a shelter in Spain, along with
her six sibling when they were tiny puppies. One of them even broke a
hip and no one noticed that when he was in Spain. He was about six
months old when he was operated on to fix that hip in Belgium.
Lizzy is a cute medium-size doggy but can be very cheeky, like most
of the Podencos. And she has a big Galgo sister and Galgo brother (a
foster who is still looking for a home). In two weeks time she is going to school because, although she is very intelligent and she knows and mostly obeys all commands indoors, once past the outside door she pretends she becomes deaf.
The podencos are just like the Galgos, sighthounds who are mostly
hunting dogs, and have a very bad life with their galguero. A lot of them only come out of their cage, or get loose from their chain to train or hunt once a week in the season. And mostly they are fed once in three days with leftovers of dry bread.
These dogs are so gentle and loving, so close to humans, once they
can overcome their fear for them. So they deserve to be helped and adopted. No dog deserves to live in a hell like most of them have to do,
or be tortured, or be cruel to any kind of way you can think off. Some even are done away with, as the only gift for all the loyalty they gave their
galguero.
Lizzy is our dog now, and she never has to worry about that again.
The biggest wish we have is that all the suffering and cruelty
towards all the dogs in Spain and other countries should stop. She believes every dog should have a human to love, and to be loved in return.
