Just being a Dane makes Bear special. He is one of the largest, most lovable characters on the planet. :) And he is the world's largest lap dog as well! He likes to hold conversation with me at times.
Bear is my second Great Dane. We got him as a rescue from Rhode Island when he was six months old. He loves everyone, and loves people ... kids, adults and even babies! (That last is unusual for Great Danes, some get nervous around small humans.) He is a true gentleman for all his size, as well as a goofball. He loves to sit on the couch with you and even on your lap!
Bear currently weighs 170 lbs (77 kg) and is actually nice and lean. He loves to play ball and run in general. In fact he is one of the fastest Danes I've ever seen ... his speed is quite astonishing! He loves to stand on his hind legs and with me being over 6' tall, he's just slightly taller! But he is all heart for all that size! We sure love him!
