Cliffy is special because he is the dog version of Will Ferrell's character in "Elf" (smiling is also his favorite). No one can pass him on the street without him saying hello, and while he doesn't always realize his size - 59 lbs (26kg) mostly fluff - he wouldn't hurt a fly (but may steal their socks).
Cliff is our first dog and my husband and I's only "child" (not to spark whatever debate comes with using that term for a fur-baby, lol). My husband is allergic to dogs, so we did our research on hypoallergenic pets, had a Skype interview with the woman who was looking after his mother and siblings then I flew up to Rochester, New York to bring him home when he was old enough to be adopted.
JetBlue actually cancelled my return flight that day due to weather. He was meant to travel with me, as this was back when he was small enough to fit in a bag under the seat for take-off, but instead I ended up having to rent a car and drive eight hours home, stopping every 30 minutes for puppy bathroom breaks.
He is the most affectionate dog you'll ever meet, if you tap your shoulders he'll jump up and give "hugs" and can also sit, stay, lay down, etc., (provided he feels like it, being a poodle-retreiver mix means he's smart enough to know he'll get cuddled either way). Cliff does shed slightly, but we like to say it's no worse than you or I 'shedding' hair since Cliff has more fluffy hair than wiry fur like the myriad of Labradors I grew up with :). Cliffy is the Cliffy!
