Hello! This is Taco! People expect to see a Chihuahua when they meet him but he is actually a six-year old Norwegian Elkhound mix. He's got a lot of Norwegian Elkhound in him (his loyalty and extra neck skin we call his "Elizabethan collar"), but he is much smaller and lacks the curly tail of the purebreds.
Taco lives with his two owners and two cat sisters in Columbus, Ohio. He likes to play with the cats but mostly loves to sneak on the couch for cuddles with us. He loves to sleep in on weekends and will do just about anything for a treat. Taco is often admired for his boisterous personality, general disregard for authority, and spectacular side-eye.
We adopted Taco when he was four years old from the local shelter. We were there for another dog but I couldn't help but notice his big brown eyes following my every step. We just had to meet him. His name was Toby but we had just lost a beloved black lab/coonhound mix named Toby and didn't think it was right to keep that name. On our way home we took him shopping at the pet store and as he wandered through the aisles we couldn't help but notice that his little trunk looked like an overstuffed burrito. And that's how we ended up on Taco! Also, fun fact, his birthday, October 4th, is National Taco Day. It was meant to be!
Taco brings so much joy, cuddles, and fur into our lives and we can't believe how lucky we are to have the privilege to call him ours.
