Bridget was born on New Years Day 2016. I have had Maltese dogs for years and my last one, Tildy, died at the age of 16 in April of that year. I cannot go without a dog so I started searching for another Maltese puppy. However, having retired I found that I could no longer pay the prices all of the breeders were charging. I had been a breeder myself until my last litter was gone about two years before.
So one day my daughter called me and said her boss wanted me to call this lady who had Malti-Poo puppies for sale. I had seen the ad and thought about it but didn't know if I wanted a Malti-Poo. Finally, I did drive out to the lady's house (got lost on the way) and met Bridget, her mother and her father. It seems her mother was a Malti-Poo and pop was a poodle. So this tiny little one looked just like a Maltese. TINY and such a BIG personality! I couldn't resist so she came home with me and has been Queen of the house ever since.
At one year old she weighed four and a half pounds. Now she weighs right around five pounds. She quickly became Dexter's best friend and boss. He is afraid to cross her! She pulls him around by his ears! They obviously love each other dearly and the picture of the two of them together in the chair was not one that I posed - I just grabbed my phone and snapped it when they got up there! When I say 'Boss' Bridget IS. If I tell Dexter not to do something and he doesn't immediately mind me, she goes after him with a low growl and grabs him. For instance: Whenever I go into my bathroom to brush my teeth Dexter tries to get into the bathtub and lick the curtain. I am forever telling him to get out. So one night Bridget was outside the door when I told him to stop and in she came, grabbing him as he jumped up and pulled him down and out of the bathroom. She then laid across the threshold to keep him out!
So tell me a story that is more uncommon than this; a five-pound dog and a twenty-pound cat who are best friends, and the dog is the boss!!!
