Akira
is a very special dog, especially to me. She is calm and always
friendly. Akira just loves everyone. She also knows a lot of tricks, of which
her most amazing is to play the guitar, hence the picture of her and the
guitar. Here is a video of her playing
the guitar and showing some other tricks.
But we also do sports together. One of our favorites is human-trailing, in
which she is trained to find missing people after having smelled a piece of
their clothing or something with their scent. And she's doing pretty well for
a beginner. She is a great dog and such a fast learner. She also knows a lot
of other tricks, such as how to turn off the light.
She loves to eat, probably one of her favorite hobbies, but she doesn't like
salmon, which is pretty weird, but oh well, everyone's got their preferences
and she prefers apples over salmon. Also, starting March, we'll be trained to
visit people with dementia together, spend some time with them, talk to them,
take walks with them and basically just be there for them. Dogs are probably
the best therapists there are.
She is the loveliest dog I've ever met and whenever you're sad she's the
first one to notice and comfort you. I've only had her for a bit more than a
year now and already can't imagine a life without her, she's just so
wonderful. She's also probably the nicest model I have ever had to work with,
which is perfect since I'm a hobby photographer.
