Getting Kenai was a bit of a whirlwind idea. My family and I had taken care of a
runaway pup that ran into us (quite literally), and after we found the owner of the dog, we realized that our family was missing something very important: our own dog.
We looked online for a while, trying to find a dog, and then we found a woman that had a litter of Malamutes for sale, and we saw pictures and fell in love with a then-unnamed Kenai. Her name, by the way, comes from a city in Alaska. Kenai is fiercely loyal to everyone in the house, and definitely the alpha of our two dogs. Her favourite treat is strawberries.
Whenever someone arrives at our house, Kenai is the first to rush to the door and start bellowing to announce the arrival. She loves squeaky toys and is quick to get to the fun part - meaning she rips them up and plays with the squeaker for all of about an hour before it's broken. Kenai loves tummy rubs, and is not afraid to nudge you or hit you with her paw if you don't want to pet her when she wants to be pet, even though she always picks some of the most inconvenient times. Petting a dog while trying to draw doesn't always end well. The pictures I have included are from her trip home, and all the way up until her now, eight years old and absolutely beautiful. And, of course, two that include a toy that is soon to undergo a "squeakectomy," as it's called in our house.
