Sandpiper's Arya - just Arya for short - is a purebred Entlebucher Mountain Dog. It's pronounced Ent-leh-boo-ker (people call them Entlee's for short). Her breed is still very new to the United States, but is growing in popularity due to their fun loving, energetic personalities and compact size. Entlebuchers are a Swiss breed originally used for cattle driving. So they are very smart and tough, with big personalities and lots of energy.
Arya is just a puppy, but when she is full grown she will be between 50-60lbs. She loves to be involved in whatever is going on, and her favorite thing is to go hiking in the woods or at the beach. Her big brother is a Cane Corso named Galileo! She tries really hard to get him to play, but he's almost 7 years old now so he just wants to sleep and sniff stuff.
While she is young it is very important for her to get out and see new things, so we go to the beach and take her for walks every day. She has seen big logging trucks drive by up close, met hundreds and hundreds of people, gone to doggy day care to learn to play with other dogs, and she's even met a cow!
Entlebuchers are great dogs for people that have a lot of energy and enjoy doing things every day with their dog. They love hiking, backpacking, agility, and doing what they were bred to do: herd cattle! Though as you can tell, that cow was not exactly about to be herded by curious Arya puppy!
