What makes Uma most special is her complete and total devotion to her family, while maintaining a Diva-like attitude without which a pug is not quite a pug. She is 14 years old now, but still a treasure in our family. This top photo shows her sitting puggishly protecting her turf in search of fallen food on the kitchen floor. This is a very important job, you understand. The second photo shows her receiving a light treatment for her joint pain, whic seems to help her.
The third shows Uma's impressive puggish skill at occupying a lap, and the next shows her tactical approach to making sure she isn't left behind on one of our many road trips. The last is Uma and Daddy catching a nap.
My wonderful wife, Julie, and I are disabled from an eight-year battle with Lyme Disease, and this little dog has saved our life. While we bemoaned being bed-ridden, she thought it was the greatest thing that ever happened!! "Eight years of spending 18 hours a day in a warm bed with Mommy and Daddy!" Her excitement at our debacle makes us take it all a bit less seriously, and humor, no matter how dark, can cure many ills.
