Hello, I'm Jessica and I would Love to introduce my Roxy. She's a Weimaraner, a.k.a. Weims, a.k.a. grey ghost, a.k.a. Velcro dog, etc!

What makes my dog special? Gosh where do I begin~ Well.. when I graduated from high school, they said I could spent my graduation money on anything I wanted. I could have gotten a lot of fancy things, but my heart was set on having another dog in the family. My last Lab passed away at the old age of seventeen, and it just wasn't the same around our home without a dog. When I asked dad, he said that I could get another if we got a Weimaraner instead of a Labrador. I was always used to having Labradors in the family, so when I asked why he wanted the change, he said, "Because Weims don't get fat, they don't shed like crazy, and their your best friend, not everybody's best friend like Labs are."

I was a bit worried about the change, but agreed none the less. It took us a while to find someone who had Weim puppies for sale, because Weimaraners aren't widely known in America yet. But when I saw this little runt of the litter look at me with those big blue eyes, I knew that she was the one for me: and she was worth every penny.

She's just one of the most amazing dogs I've ever seen. She just so smart, and has now learned over twenty tricks! (These include singing, counting, dancing, etc.) But sometimes she's a little too smart, for she's learned to open my bedroom door. She goes everywhere I go, so she's quiet literary my shadow, and I take her camping, and she makes an excellent fishing buddy. I can always count on her to pull me to shore when we're swimming. Even though she's a really big dog I still let her sit on me on the couch, and to this day she will still sleep under the covers with me.

I still remember the day we decided to breed her, she was such a wonderful first-time mom. It was funny to watch her get bigger on the belly every day, until I could finally feel the pups starting to kicking. Though I have to admit we were both a little scared when she went into labor, I would rub her stomach as she kept her head wedged under my arm; three hours later I helped deliver seven beautiful pups (five females, two males). I made sure to find good homes for all of them, and did everything from shots, tails docked, dew claws removed, proper nutrition, and of course the papers for each pup, and much more. I miss them all so much, from their curious sniffing noses, to their striking baby blue eyes. But we did keep one! My family couldn't resist, and we named her Gracy. And the ironic thing is, Roxy went into labor on my birthday (March 31) so she gave me the most wonderful gift I could ever ask for.

So now Roxy's showing her daughter the ropes (but hopefully not the trick of opening up doors) and I couldn't be happier, and I'm glad I decided to agree with my old man to get a Weimaraner.
