Meet
Bex, me and my family have had him since the age of two when he was given
to us by a cousin from the isle of Man. He's a little unruly but incredibly
friendly. Five years ago he was hit by a car and fractured his back,
thankfully we found him and he has made a full recovery except the wag in his
tail. He's a smart dog and absolutely perfect down to the black polka dots on
his muzzle and paws. He is a Border Collie cross spaniel, and has plenty of
energy! He's a digging specialist who loves digging out rabbit holes and has
been known to disappear down them!
Bex knows a few tricks such as sit, paw, lie down, seek and speak. He can
also turn on the TV, use the remote and open doors which is bad when you're
trying to have a bath or sleep!
Personality wise he can be very grumpy in the morning but that is easily
remedied by a scratch behind the ears and some breakfast. He's very energetic
and likes to play games. His favorite games are fetch (though he likes to run
away with the ball so I have to run after him) and tug of war which he always
wins due to him being quite competitive.
He is a good listener and will sit for long periods of time if you talk to
him, just never mention a bath or he suddenly becomes deaf and will ignore
you for days. He is also very responsive to my family's emotions and will sit
with you for a long time with his head on your knee if you are upset. He does
not have a bad temper and loves anyone who loves him too. His loyalty is
formidable and he will never abandon me or anyone else if we need him and has
protected our home and family farm since he came to us so many years ago. Bex
hates to be alone so will stick to you like glue when you are at home and
will wait patiently by the front door when we are out and always greets us
with enthusiasm when we get home.
One of his favorite hobbies is to go for walkies and will walk miles if you
let him. He also enjoys swimming in the local ponds though it's not our
favorite when he decides the doggy paddle is the way forward.
Bex loves all seasons though he prefers summer and winter. He likes summer
because it is warm and he can stalk animals in the long grass and fields as
well as his ability to con you out of any ice cream there may be with his big
brown eyes. He likes winter because he has a huge fascination with snow and
will spend hours smashing into snow men me and my sister make and rolling
around in it getting soaked so he can be towel dried.
Bex likes to eat a lot, and absolutely loves toffee. Though he's not meant to
have it, he finds ways of getting it even if it means using emotional
blackmail to get them. We make sure he doesn't get any chocolate, at least!
We all love him very much!
