Kino
is my seven-week-old (full blood) Golden Retriever. Kino is a special
dog is mostly because he's getting trained to be my autism assistance dog! I
have a light form of autism, so my new companion will help me getting over
things. It's mentally hard for me to go to the center of the city to get to
the supermarket, because for some reason, unknown even to me, I tend to freak
out when unexpected things happen.
The funny thing is, that now I'm actually doing great, even in crowded areas,
the only thing I need is someone around me, Kino, to keep me company, so I
know I'm not all alone out there.
Traveling on the bus or train is also hard for me for the same exact reason,
so that's why I choose for my lovely dog, I always loved dogs, but at the
place I lived in, pets were not allowed mostly, but after some struggle, with
some help of others (the foundation that's helping me with the training and
stuff.), we were able to talk to the other people, and finally I got an
exception so he can stay with me.
Kino still got a long way to learn the ropes, he'll be training for at least
a year, but I'm sure and confident he will pull it off, specially if I'm
there to cheer him and play with him! It's going good with him so far, he's
getting the normal training, what every dog gets, like socializing, going for
rides on the public transportation, the metro, train, and bus.
We are already bound to each other, in such a way that he's crying when I
leave the house, but that's normal in the beginning, and he's all happy when
I get home again. He's already making life better for me every day!
